Day 27 of 100 Days of Hope
Creating a Sacred Space: Why It Matters and How to Begin
In a world filled with noise, chaos, and constant demands, it’s easy to feel ungrounded and overwhelmed. That’s why creating a sacred space—one that is just for you—is so important. A sacred space is more than a quiet corner; it’s a place where your soul can breathe, where you can reconnect with yourself, and where you can be reminded of your worth and your divine nature.
What Is a Sacred Space?
A sacred space is any place you intentionally set aside for your own renewal. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or large. It might be a chair by the window, a desk in the corner of your room, or a cozy nook with a candle and a blanket. What matters is that it feels like yours—a space filled with items, sights, and sounds that bring you peace and inspiration.
My own sacred space is where I do many of the things that feed my soul. It’s where I coach clients, journal, read, and write. It’s where I play my guitar and practice yoga. It’s where I see beauty reflected back at me through artwork and a quilt my mom lovingly made. In this space, I feel supported, safe, and most like myself.
Why a Sacred Space Is So Important
We are spiritual beings navigating a busy and often confusing world. Without a place to retreat, it’s easy to feel drained and disconnected. A sacred space provides a buffer from the outside world—a place to center yourself before you step back into life’s demands.
Here are a few reasons a sacred space matters:
Grounding: It helps you feel safe, steady, and present.
Reflection: It gives you room to think, pray, journal, and listen to your heart.
Renewal: It allows you to release stress and fear while reconnecting with faith.
Identity: It reminds you of who you are—a Divine Child of God—capable of meeting life with authenticity and integrity.
Support: It creates an atmosphere where you can feel at home, loved, and guided.
When we take time to go inward in our sacred space, we build the strength to move outward into the world with courage and peace.
How to Create Your Own Sacred Space
The beauty of a sacred space is that it is personal and unique to you. It doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Start small and choose items that inspire you and remind you of what’s most important.
Here are some ideas:
A comfortable chair or cushion
A candle or soft lamp for gentle light
A cozy blanket that feels like a hug
A journal and pen for reflection
Books that inspire your spirit and growth
Artwork, photographs, or meaningful objects
Music or instruments that lift your soul
A plant or flowers to bring in life and beauty
Think about what fills your bucket—what makes you feel calm, safe, and at home—and place those items in your sacred corner.
A Place of Wonder
Creating a sacred space is not about decorating a room. It’s about making room in your life for peace, presence, and connection. It’s about reminding yourself daily of your worth, your faith, and your capacity to live authentically.
My hope is that you will take the time to create your own sacred space, no matter how small. Let it become a place of wonder, calm, and inspiration—a space that whispers to you, You are loved. You are safe. You are home.
What would you like to include in your sacred space? I would love to hear about it.
Here is a little video about it.
Many blessings to you on your journey,
