Day 40 of 100 Days of Hope
The Power of Affirmations: Speaking Life into Your Day
Have you ever noticed the difference between waking up and thinking, “Ugh, I have so much to do,” versus saying, “Today is full of opportunities for growth and joy”?
That small shift in language can transform how you show up in your life.
Affirmations are more than just positive statements. They are intentional declarations of truth that reshape the way we think, act, and feel. They are powerful tools that connect our thoughts with our deepest desires — and remind us of who we truly are.
What Are Affirmations?
Affirmations are short, positive, present-tense statements that reflect the life you want to create. They act as gentle reminders of your power, worth, and potential.
Louise Hay, one of the pioneers of modern affirmations, taught that:
“Every thought we think is creating our future.”
When we repeat affirmations, we begin to train our minds to focus on what we want to expand, rather than what we fear or lack. Over time, our thoughts, emotions, and actions begin to align with these new beliefs — and that alignment creates real, lasting change.
Why Affirmations Work
Our minds are constantly listening. When we speak words of doubt or fear, our subconscious believes them. The same is true when we speak words of confidence and love.
Affirmations work because they:
Reprogram your subconscious mind. Your inner dialogue becomes your outer reality. Affirmations replace old limiting beliefs with empowering ones.
Shift your emotional state. The words you say change how you feel — and how you feel determines how you act.
Build confidence and self-trust. When you speak kindly to yourself, you strengthen your inner foundation.
Invite spiritual alignment. Positive words open your heart to inspiration, guidance, and divine support.
Affirmations are a way of co-creating with God — speaking life into your day and trusting that you are supported in every step.
How to Create Your Own Affirmations
When I work with my clients or reflect on my own affirmations, I like to remember the “4 Ps”:
Positive – Speak about what you want, not what you don’t want.
Personal – Use words that feel true for you.
Powerful – Choose words that evoke emotion and conviction.
Present – Phrase them as if they are already true.
For example:
“I am confident and calm in all situations.”
“I trust the divine timing of my life.”
“I am open to receiving love, abundance, and joy.”
“I shine my light with courage and compassion.”
These aren’t just words. They are vibrations of truth that shift your energy.
My Personal Practice
Every morning, I look in the mirror, take a deep breath, and say my daily affirmation. Today, mine is:
“I am the queen of abundance. I have confidence in me. I have guidance in everything.”
This reminds me that I am supported in all that I do. I don’t need to rush or force. I can trust that inspiration and guidance will come exactly when I need them.
It’s a small moment that sets the tone for my entire day. I feel centered, confident, and connected — to myself and to something greater.
Affirmations for Midlife Moms
If you’re a midlife mom navigating change — kids leaving home, rediscovering yourself, or redefining what brings you joy — affirmations can be a powerful anchor.
Here are a few to try:
“I am worthy of joy, love, and growth at every stage of life.”
“I am free to create a life that reflects who I truly am.”
“I trust the unfolding of my journey.”
“I am radiant, resilient, and full of purpose.”
Saying these aloud can be a beautiful act of self-love and renewal — a way to remind yourself that your best days aren’t behind you. They’re happening now.
Speak Life Into Your Day
Affirmations are not about pretending life is perfect. They’re about choosing your focus — deciding what thoughts deserve to live in your mind.
As Louise Hay said,
“You’ve been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”
Affirmations are your invitation to approve of yourself — to see the beauty, strength, and divine light already inside you.
So take a moment today. Stand in front of your mirror. Look into your eyes and say something kind, something true, something hopeful. Let your words lift you. Let them become your prayer, your anchor, your promise.
You deserve to live in alignment with your highest self. And it begins with the words you speak.
Here is a video I share about this.
