Day 94 of 100 Days of Hope

How to Reset After the Holidays: What to Let Go Of and What to Lean Into for a Meaningful New Year

There’s something unique about the days right after Christmas. The pace slows, the noise calms down, and suddenly there’s more space—physically, mentally, emotionally. In that space, clarity has room to rise.

This year, I used that extra breathing room to reflect on what I want to keep carrying forward—and what needs to be released. Instead of setting resolutions that disappear by February, I chose a framework that feels more sustainable and more life-giving: Stop doing • Do less of • Keep doing • Do more of.

It’s a simple structure, yet incredibly powerful. Here’s what surfaced for me:

Stop Doing

These habits take energy without giving much back.

  • Worrying about the results

  • Hiding

  • Comparing my journey to others

  • Making excuses

  • Blaming myself for past outcomes

Stopping isn’t about judgment—it’s about noticing what no longer serves the person you’re becoming.

Do Less Of

Small adjustments here create big emotional relief.

  • Distractions

  • Overspending

  • Resistance

  • Reliance on others for direction or validation

  • Disorganization

Doing less doesn’t mean perfection—it means mindful reduction.

Keep Doing

These are the practices that keep me grounded and aligned.

  • Giving myself breaks

  • Allowing myself grace

  • Following promptings

  • Connecting to my heart

These behaviors are worth protecting, even when life gets full again.

Do More Of

These habits light the way forward.

  • Make it fun

  • Find joy in the journey

  • Rely on spiritual guidance

  • Focus on the Savior and rely on Him

  • Trust in the process

Doing more is about intentional growth—not pressure.

The Three Principles Guiding My New Year

Even though the list seems long, it all comes down to three core practices I’m choosing to focus on again and again:

  1. Stop procrastinating and putting things off — momentum begins with small consistent action

  2. Follow pings and promptings—and take action on that guidance — clarity grows through movement

  3. Make it fun — joy is fuel, not a reward

These three simple shifts help me redirect my energy toward what creates meaning, purpose, and momentum in my life.

Your Turn

If you’re feeling ready for a fresh start, try this reflection yourself:

  • Stop doing:

  • Do less of:

  • Keep doing:

  • Do more of:

You might be surprised by what shows up—and by how much lighter you feel when you give yourself permission to change.

Here’s to moving forward with intention, hope, and joy.
Many blessings to you as the new year unfolds.
