Day 98 of 100 Days of Hope

Why It’s Good to Want Things: How Desire, Commitment, and Recommitment Create Real Change

Many of us hesitate to admit what we truly want. We soften our desires with phrases like, “It’s fine, I don’t need that,” or “I shouldn’t want more.”
But wanting things isn’t a flaw — it’s one of the most powerful forces we have for growth, transformation, and joy.

When you allow yourself to want, you give your heart permission to explore what’s possible. You open the door to creation, courage, and becoming someone stronger than you were before. Desire stretches you toward what matters most.

As we enter a new year full of potential, here’s an experiment to try whenever a desire rises inside you:
instead of shutting it down, let your next thought be, “Maybe I could have it.”
That small shift invites hope, and hope is fuel for action.

To help your desire turn into real progress, here are three essential tools:

1. Willingness: The First Yes

Ask yourself: Am I willing?
Willingness is the quiet green light that gets your foot in the door. If thinking about your desire lights you up or brings a smile to your face, that’s a sign worth paying attention to.
Put it on your calendar. Name it out loud. Let yourself lean in.

2. Commitment: The Decision to Go All In

Commitment transforms wishing into action.
It’s not about knowing every step — it’s about choosing to show up.
When you commit, you step into the arena of your own life. You’re in motion, learning, trying, adjusting… and that is where momentum begins.

Commitment says: “I’m doing this.”

3. Recommitment: The Key to Staying the Course

Life happens. We forget. We get tired. We fall off track.
Recommitment is the practice that keeps us moving anyway.

Just like an airplane continuously adjusts its course without judgment, you can return to your goal without criticizing yourself for getting off track.
Recommitment says: “I still want this — and I’m choosing it again.”

This step is where resilience grows and results take shape.

Your New Year Invitation

Every January, the air feels full of possibility. It’s the perfect time to write down what you want, choose when you’ll pursue it, and create your roadmap of willingness, commitment, and recommitment.

Then, it becomes a daily practice — small steps, consistent effort, and a whole lot of grace.

So the question is:
What do you want this year?
And are you willing to believe maybe you can have it?

I’d love to hear what’s on your heart… and if you get stuck along the way, I’m here.

Let’s make this year one where your desires lead you somewhere beautiful.
