Day 19 of 100 Days of hope
Creating Space for What We Really Want
Yesterday was a day to face the garage.
If I’m honest, when I first opened the door and looked around, my heart sank. Everywhere I turned, there were piles of leftovers from our home updates—tile, flooring, paint, and supplies that had nowhere else to go. The garage had become the catch-all, and standing there felt overwhelming. I didn’t know where to start, and part of me wanted to turn around and avoid it altogether.
But winter is coming, and I long to park my car in the garage before the snow flies. My husband and I had promised each other that this would be our focus for the weekend, so instead of running away, we leaned in.
Little by Little
Here’s the thing about big, overwhelming projects: they rarely come together all at once. It happens little by little. Sorting one box, stacking supplies neatly, deciding what to keep and what to release. Bit by bit, I began to see progress.
What surprised me most was how different it felt to have a partner in the process. It wasn’t just my responsibility; it was ours. That sense of accountability, teamwork, and shared vision made the work lighter. It reminded me of the power of having someone alongside you in life’s challenges—whether it’s a spouse, a friend, or a coach. We aren’t meant to do everything alone.
Creating Space
By the end of the weekend, we had created more space than I imagined possible. The garage wasn’t perfect yet, but it was on its way. And the deeper truth? It wasn’t just about a garage. It was about creating space for what we really want.
When we release what no longer serves us, we open the door for possibility. We allow room for clarity, peace, and even joy. And that’s what I felt standing in that space—hope that soon the garage will hold our cars again, but also hope that by letting go, we are making room for something better.
What About You?
I wonder where in your life you need to create space. Maybe it’s a physical corner of your house you want to turn into a sanctuary. Maybe it’s in your schedule, clearing time for what matters most. Or maybe it’s emotional space—releasing old resentments, fears, or expectations that are crowding out what you truly desire.
Ask yourself:
What am I holding onto that I no longer need?
What could I release to create more room for peace, joy, and growth?
What small step could I take today to begin?
It doesn’t have to happen all at once. Like my garage, it can be little by little.
Much love, my friend. I’m rooting for you every step of the way.
Here is a video about my journey.
