Day 21 of 100 Days of Hope
The Power of Reaching Out
Yesterday I took some much-needed time to connect with the people who matter most to me. Life gets busy, and sometimes days or even weeks pass before we realize we haven’t checked in with the ones we love.
For me, it started with my mom. I hadn’t talked with her in a while, and I’d been meaning to call. Yesterday, I finally did. We caught up on family news, shared stories, and laughed about the little things. It felt good—like a warm hug over the phone.
Later, I was able to connect with my daughter. Again, it had been a while since we’d had a real conversation, just the two of us. Taking that time reminded me of how important it is to pause, listen, and really be present.
Why Connection Matters
Reaching out doesn’t take much effort, but the impact is powerful. Relationships are strengthened when we check in, even with something as simple as: “Hey, I was thinking about you. How are you doing?”
We need each other. We need to know how to support and uplift one another. When we give our time and attention, we build trust, closeness, and love. These are the ties that hold families and friendships together.
The Gift of Hope
Connection isn’t just about the moment—it’s about what it sparks. It sparks hope.
Hope that you are cared for and not alone.
Hope that someone is thinking of you and cheering you on.
Hope that you can be a light in someone else’s day.
Our attention is one of the most valuable gifts we can give. It tells the other person, “You matter. You are important. I see you.”
A Gentle Invitation
I wonder, who could you reach out to today? Maybe it’s a parent, a sibling, a friend, or even a neighbor you haven’t spoken with in a while.
It doesn’t have to be long or complicated. A call, a text, even a short voice message can make someone’s day brighter. And in the process, you may find your own heart lifted too.
Take a moment, get quiet, and ask yourself: Who could use my time today?
I promise—it will make a difference. Even if you don’t see the results right away, your effort plants seeds of love, hope, and connection.
You are so important to so many. Never forget that.
Here is a little video about this.
